Is Your Church Accessible?
Do you let everyone know?
One of the best ways to let the public know that you have accessible facilities is to have a web page describing your facilities and a link to that page from your front page.
Everyone knows the wheelchair symbol
. Put this symbol on your front page, put the text word "Accessibility" underneath and link both to your accessibility page. If you would like a wheelchair symbol in one of the colors of your website, email Barbara Djimopoulos at barbarad@dj-group.org and the Bethsaida Team will create your custom accessibility symbol.
What should our church
put on the accessibility page?
put on the accessibility page?
People need to know how to enter your facilities. Is there a ramp? An elevator? What about parking location relative to the entrance. Is there an accessible connection between church and parish hall - other buildings? Do you have wheelchair accessible bathrooms? Where are they located? Do you have pew cuts in the church for wheelchairs. Do you have large print materials, assisted listening devices? Pictures of your facilities and layout would be helpful.
Are there any special services that you provide: Sunday School that welcomes children with behavioral or learning disabilities such as ADD, Dyslexia, or Autism?
Invite the web visitor to contact the church for futher information and provide contact information.
Let the world know you're accessible.
